Strategy I: Turning Resources into Power
How will we turn the resources our people have into the power we need to win the change we want? (Registration closes 72 hours before workshop start.)
Description
In this intensive skill-building workshop, participants will learn a people-centered approach to strategizing that transforms organizing from reactive responses into proactive, creative campaigns. You'll work through the first four critical steps of strategic planning: identifying your constituency, mapping all relevant actors , developing a theory of change, and setting a strategic goal. You’ll decide whether your campaign is about building power to compel a decision-maker to negotiate with you (Power Over), or whether it’s a change the constituency has the power to make for itself, like a cooperative daycare (Power With). Through guided teamwork in small coaching groups, you'll learn that strategy is not a single planning event but an ongoing, adaptive process—like a potter interacting with clay—that requires both mastery of details and the ability to see the whole picture.
