Relationships I: Creating Shared Commitment and Building Power Through 1:1 Meetings
Meeting intentionally with another person at the level of values is one of the most powerful things we can do. Learn how. (Registration closes 72 hours before workshop begins.)
Description
In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn why relationships are the foundation of effective organizing and the "glue" that holds movements together. We'll explore how intentional relationship-building enables leaders to identify and recruit new leadership, build community, and turn individual resources into collective power—not through coercion, but through voluntary commitment rooted in shared values. Participants will practice the structured "one-to-one meeting" technique developed by organizers over decades, learning to move through the five acts of Attention, Interest, Exploration, Exchange, and Commitment. Through paired practice conversations, you'll develop skills in asking probing questions of your partner to discover each other's stories, values, interests, and resources, while making clear commitments for ongoing collaboration.
